Reggy Sternes has lived in Idaho since moving here in 1976. He graduated from Jerome High School and two of Idaho’s universities. He believes in God and the principles of liberty found in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. and Idaho Constitutions.
What Guides Him
His role models include Presidents George Washington and Ronald Reagan and his grandfather and mother, Benjamin McDonald and Laura Sternes, respectfully. He enjoys reading about American history, free-market Austrian economics, self-improvement, and faith. He stays active by snow skiing, camping, hiking, exercising, completing home improvement and mechanics projects.
What Defines Him
Reggy’s Christian faith is critical to his core belief system, though it’s essential to him, no one would feel uneasy by his religious practice. He believes it should “speak” through his actions. He respects other’s peaceful religious worship and encourages religions, cultural, and ethic tolerance.
Idaho is What Made Him
His family moved to Idaho in 1976, from Billings, Montana. In his early childhood, he also lived in Northern California, Oregon, and Arizona. Though he was born out of state, he has been a resident of Idaho for three-quarters of his life.
Reggy is a 23-year military veteran (reserve and active) and obtained the rank of U.S. Navy Commander. He was assigned to commands in Rhode Island, Washington, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., California, and Idaho. He is a combat zone veteran, having served two 10-month tours in Afghanistan as a military adviser to the para-military Afghan National Police and as an operational planner and action officer for the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Training Mission-Afghanistan Headquarters. He’s earned 22 military awards (medals and ribbons), to include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Between deployments or active duty periods, he’s owned or partnered in several businesses, to include real estate, insurance, and mining companies. Reggy is the managing broker for Sternes Realty.
